A Talogy assessment is an online test from Talogy, the talent assessment company that took over the Cubiks, PSI talent management and Caliper product lines in 2022. As a candidate you will most often meet Logiks ability tests (verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning, from 12 minutes for the Intermediate version), the PAPI personality questionnaire, and situational judgement tests. This guide explains where Talogy comes from, the official timings for each Logiks version, how PAPI works, and gives original practice items in the same formats.

Where Talogy comes from
- PSI buys Cubiks (October 2019). Cubiks was an international assessment business headquartered in Guildford, UK, known for Logiks and PAPI.
- PSI buys Caliper (December 2019). Caliper, founded in 1961, is known for the Caliper Profile personality assessment.
- Talogy launches (15 March 2022). PSI's talent management business and its acquisitions were brought together under one new name. The announcement lists 17 organisations, including PSI Talent Management, Cubiks, Caliper, JCA Global, Select International, EB Jacobs, IPAT and a&dc, with 600 experts in over 20 countries.
So the "Cubiks + PSI merger" people refer to is really an acquisition followed by a rebrand. Older invitations and the practice site still say Cubiks; newer ones say Talogy. The tests are the same family.
What Talogy tests look like
Logiks ability tests: official timings
Talogy's practice site gives these figures:
| Test | Sections | Questions | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Logiks General (Intermediate) | Verbal / Numerical / Abstract | 24 / 16 / 10 = 50 | 4 + 4 + 4 = 12 min |
| Logiks General (Advanced) | Verbal / Numerical / Abstract | 12 / 8 / 10 = 30 | 8 + 8 + 4 = 20 min |
| Logiks Verbal (Advanced) | verbal only | 36 | 25 min |
| Logiks Numerical (Advanced) | numerical only | 20 | 25 min |
| Logiks Abstract (Advanced) | abstract only | 30 | 15 min |
The Intermediate test is a speed test: 24 verbal questions in 4 minutes is 10 seconds each. The Advanced General test gives about 40 to 60 seconds per verbal or numerical item, and the standalone Advanced tests 30 seconds (abstract) to 75 seconds (numerical).
Question formats
Talogy's own pages name the sections but do not describe the item types, and prep sites disagree:
- Intermediate verbal. AssessmentDay describes short problem-solving items such as antonyms, odd one out, pairs of concepts and verbal analogies, which fits the 10-second pace. Another prep site describes short passage-based items. Expect very short items either way.
- Intermediate numerical. Short calculations and number series, according to AssessmentDay.
- Advanced verbal. Passages with statements to judge against the text, without outside knowledge.
- Advanced numerical. Tables and charts with multi-step questions. Prep sites say a calculator is usually allowed, and Talogy's tips list a calculator among things to have ready; confirm in your instructions.
- Abstract. Find the next or missing figure in a series of shapes.
AssessmentDay says the Intermediate questions stay grouped by section, each with its own 4-minute timer, which matches the per-section times above.
PAPI personality questionnaire
PAPI (Personality and Preference Inventory) measures work style. Talogy describes 7 factors (impact and drive, organisation and structure, ideas and change, interaction, work momentum, composure, engagement) split into 26 need and role scales. Talogy's PAPI 3+ page gives 44 to 162 items depending on version, 20 to 30 minutes, and more than 30 languages. Two formats exist:
| Version | Format | Time (Talogy practice site) |
|---|---|---|
| PAPI N (normative) | rate your agreement with each statement on a 1 to 7 scale | untimed, about 25 to 30 min |
| PAPI I (ipsative) | sets of three statements; choose the one most like you and the one least like you | untimed, about 30 to 35 min |
GraduatesFirst describes PAPI N as a 1 to 5 scale. Talogy's own practice site says 1 to 7, so trust the instructions on your screen. Talogy Factors is a shorter questionnaire that Talogy says originated from PAPI 3 and is based on a "Big Five and Drive" model.
Situational judgement tests
Talogy SJTs describe a short work situation followed by possible actions. There are two response types on the practice site: rate (judge how effective each action is) and rank (pick the most and least effective action). Employers can commission bespoke SJTs, so content and length vary.
Other things you might meet
GraduatesFirst also reports Talogy's virtual assessment centre (in-tray style emails, reports and meetings), short game-based tasks under the Mindgage name, and the Caliper Profile. See the assessment centre guide and the game-based assessment guide.
Original Talogy-style practice questions
All items are written for this guide. They match the formats above but are not Talogy items.
Logiks Intermediate style (target: 10 to 15 seconds each)
V1. Analogy. Thermometer is to temperature as odometer is to: (A) speed (B) distance (C) fuel (D) time
Answer: (B). A thermometer measures temperature; an odometer measures distance travelled. Speed is the speedometer, the classic distractor.
V2. Odd one out. (A) brief (B) concise (C) succinct (D) verbose (E) terse
Answer: (D). All the others mean "short and to the point"; verbose means the opposite.
V3. Opposite. Which word is most nearly opposite to scarce? (A) rare (B) plentiful (C) costly (D) hidden
Answer: (B). Rare is a synonym; costly and hidden are related ideas, not opposites.
N1. Series. 3, 7, 15, 31, ? (A) 47 (B) 55 (C) 62 (D) 63
Answer: (D). Each term is double the previous plus one: 31 × 2 + 1 = 63.
N2. Percentage. A jacket costs €80 after a 20 % discount. What was the original price? (A) €96 (B) €100 (C) €104 (D) €120
Answer: (B). €80 is 80 % of the original, so 80 ÷ 0.8 = €100. Adding 20 % to €80 (€96) is the trap.
A1. Abstract. A series of figures: a square with 1 dot, a triangle with 2 dots, a square with 3 dots, a triangle with 4 dots. What comes next? (A) a triangle with 5 dots (B) a square with 5 dots (C) a square with 4 dots (D) a circle with 5 dots
Answer: (B). Two rules run at once: the shape alternates square / triangle, and the dots increase by one.
Logiks Advanced style: verbal
Passage: In 2025 a logistics company moved the first week of onboarding for new office staff online. New starters now complete five half-day modules from home and meet their team in person in week two. The company reports that the share of new office staff leaving within six months fell from 15 % to 11 %. Warehouse staff, whose onboarding stayed on site, were not part of the change.
Decide for each statement: True, False or Cannot say (from the passage alone). The labels in your test may be worded differently.
- New office staff now meet their team in person in their first week.
- Online onboarding caused fewer new office staff to leave within six months.
- Warehouse staff onboarding was not moved online in 2025.
- The online first week contains about 20 hours of modules.
Answers: 1 False, 2 Cannot say, 3 True, 4 Cannot say.
- 1: the passage says week two.
- 2: the fall is reported after the change, but nothing rules out other causes.
- 3: warehouse onboarding "stayed on site".
- 4: the length of a "half-day" is not given, so the total is unknown.
Logiks Advanced style: numerical
| Region | Revenue 2024 (€m) | Revenue 2025 (€m) | Staff 2025 |
|---|---|---|---|
| North | 48.0 | 52.8 | 120 |
| South | 36.0 | 37.8 | 90 |
| East | 24.0 | 27.6 | 80 |
Q1. Which region had the highest percentage revenue growth from 2024 to 2025? (A) North (B) South (C) East (D) North and East equally
Answer: (C). North +4.8 ÷ 48 = 10 %; South +1.8 ÷ 36 = 5 %; East +3.6 ÷ 24 = 15 %. North grew most in euros, which is the trap.
Q2. Which region had the highest revenue per staff member in 2025? (A) North (B) South (C) East (D) all equal
Answer: (A). North 52.8 ÷ 120 = €0.44m; South 37.8 ÷ 90 = €0.42m; East 27.6 ÷ 80 = €0.345m.
Q3. If South grows at the same percentage rate in 2026 as in 2025, what will its 2026 revenue be? (A) €39.6m (B) €39.7m (C) €40.0m (D) €41.6m
Answer: (B). 37.8 × 1.05 = 39.69, so about €39.7m. (A) adds the €1.8m again instead of 5 %.
PAPI-style statements
These show the formats only. There is no right answer.
- PAPI N style (rate 1 to 7): "I prefer to have a clear plan before I start a task."
- PAPI I style (choose most and least like you): (a) "I enjoy persuading others to my point of view." (b) "I like to finish one task before starting the next." (c) "I am happy to work on my own for long periods."
Approach: in the rating version, use the whole scale where it is true; if every answer is 4, the profile says little. In the sets of three, all statements can be positive, so choose what you do most often at work rather than what sounds best. Answer for work, not for your social life, as Talogy's own advice says.
SJT style: rate each action
You notice that a colleague's quote, due to go to a client this afternoon, uses last year's prices. The colleague is on leave today, and your manager is in meetings until 17:00.
Rate each action from 1 (very ineffective) to 5 (very effective):
- Send the quote as it is; it is not your work.
- Message your manager with the problem and the deadline, and prepare a corrected version so it can go out quickly once approved.
- Correct the prices and send the quote yourself without telling anyone.
- Call the client, say the quote will be a day late, and explain that a colleague made a mistake.
Answer: 1 → 1 (knowingly sends a wrong price). 2 → 5 (flags it to the person who can decide, keeps the deadline in reach). 3 → 2 (fixes the error but bypasses approval on a client price). 4 → 2 (protects the client from the error but delays without approval and blames a colleague in front of them).
Traps and how to avoid them
- Spending 30 seconds on a 10-second item. In Logiks Intermediate, a slow start costs a third of the section. If an item doesn't open up within a few seconds, skip it; Talogy's tips say skipping is allowed.
- Euros versus percentages. Advanced numerical items often ask for growth rates where the biggest absolute change is the wrong answer.
- Adding the discount back. "After a 20 % discount" means divide by 0.8, not add 20 %.
- Outside knowledge in verbal items. Judge statements only against the passage.
- Undefined units. "Half-day", "most", "some" are not numbers; if a statement needs one, it is usually "Cannot say".
- Two rules at once in abstract items. Check shape, count, position and shading separately.
- Faking PAPI. In the sets of three, every option can sound good. Pick consistently with how you work.
