What the item is
A passage, a statement, three options. True when the passage proves the statement, false when it proves the opposite, cannot say when it neither proves nor disproves it. Your outside knowledge never decides an item; the passage is the only source you are allowed.
How the answer set works
The three options are deliberately balanced, and cannot say is a real answer, not a fallback. Statements that are true in the world but absent from the passage belong in cannot say. Read qualifiers closely: "most" and "all", "some" and "none" change the answer.
Find the one sentence the statement turns on. If the passage never states or denies it, the answer is cannot say, however obvious the fact feels.
A fixed order
- Read the statement first, then hunt the passage for its decisive fact.
- Match the names, numbers and qualifiers word for word.
- Answer true or false from that fact alone; if it is missing, answer cannot say.
- Move on the moment you have decided; the next item is short, and so is the clock.
How to practice
Practise with a hard stop of a minute per item. Write the decisive sentence next to each statement and check your label against it. The cannot-say items deserve the most repetition, because that is where the routine reader keeps losing marks.
